It’s good to hear that America isn’t the only country with oversensitive assholes. Some people in Ireland are pissed because of an ice cream flavor from Ben & Jerry’s that shared a name with some British militia. Give me a break. Do you mean to tell me that every time someone creates a name for something they have to research it to that degree to make sure it doesn’t piss off some tiny portion of the population?
“I can’t believe that Ben & Jerry’s would be so insensitive to call an ice cream such a name and to launch it as a celebration of Irishness … it’s an insult!” wrote one blogger on http://www.junkfoodblog.com.
There’s so much sensitivity in this world that itreally retards progress.

What he said it true, that why tabby lost on the X-factor for being oversensitive.
Some people are only good at being complete idiots.
Damn! The article didn’t say if Ben and Jerry’s were going to change it. LOL
Thanks for posting this!
I would say that the problem isn’t as much the hypersensitive types as it is the many millions who are willing to cater to such self-absorption and readiness to take offense. If the usual response to a hypersensitive were “dry up and die,” eventually the syndrome would retreat to tolerable levels.
I think the reaction was not just that an ice cream was named after a brutal police squad it was that Ben & Jerry’s released on an Irish national holiday hoping to tie into that spirit. In a way it’s like releasing Gestapo ice cream during a Holocaust Memorial event…tacky!
I know Ben & Jerry’s was marketing Black and Tan after the beer combo and not the other connotation…it was just a matter of not knowing.
I have to chime in with Sally here. It is almost as bad (for Irish in Ireland) as an SS-themed ice-cream would be in Israel.
Also, if you just do a Google search (black tan Ireland) you’ll be left in no doubt as to what it refers to. It seems more like the branding experts at Ben & Jerries didn’t do their homework.
