Ebay Scam
I am looking for a new cell phone and am considering the Motorola V3 or the MPX220 by Motorola as well. Both are nice phones with about the same features. The V3 however is much cooler and has is made of metal and all that so of course I want it more. Before I buy one I want to find the best deal so I chose to search on Ebay. I stumbled onto one auction that really pissed me off. I have seen auctions like this where the seller just sells a link to something rather than the actual merchandise. But this is probably the highest price for a link I have ever seen.
$305 for a LINK to a phone. And at this link you will need to spend around 300 more to buy the actual phone. That is 600 bucks and it also says that a plan is required. The same phone is selling for under 500 and unlocked so no plan is needed. This makes no sense to me. Are people this dumb? There are 36 bids on this item. I included some screen shots to show you if you don’t feel like going to my link but I think you may need to click on my pictures to make them bigger and readable. The sad thing about this is that it can’ be illegal since the seller clearly writes in all caps “PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM NOT SELLING THE PHONE, BUT THE WEBSITE AT WHICH THE PHONE CAN BE PURCHASED!”. I wonder if the people who bid on this item thought they were actually getting a phone or that they knew that it was just a link. I would hate to see someone piss their 300 bucks away or realize and end up on bad terms with Ebay and have negative feedback but if these people are stupid enough to do such a thing then let them be. I feel that Ebay should step in and stop these auctions; although not illegal they are highly unethical. But having an online auction company who minds other people ethics is not the greatest idea in the world either. Later.
