What won’t people fall for? Some people seem to not question anything; they just believe what they are told. The other day I received and email from someone with a picture of a helicopter painted too look like an eagle. Above the picture was some text; below is what this text read.

Check out what some of our boys overseas did to their helicopter. Some Afghan is probably freaking out right about now. The story is: this very special Mi-24 helicopter is presently flying in the middle east especially in Afghanistan, where it is no doubt causing quite a stir. God Bless the U.S.A

First of all, the phrase “our boys” implies that this helicopter is American which it is not. I knew this helicopter wasn’t American without looking at the picture since the nomenclature is nothing like what the US uses. Out stuff is labeled M-whatever. For example M-16, M2, M203, M249, etc. I never heard of Mi so I looked it up and found out that it was a Russian helicopter. Then just a quick search with Google produced a link to the exact helicopter I was looking at in the email. What I found out next was that this helicopter was not only Russian but was sold to the Hungarians who are the ones that painted it and currently operate it. One interesting fact is that it is hosted on a web site called “USA Attacked” which looks like a site full of links to other pro US propaganda oh and also note that one of the links at the top was labeled “items of religion”. My point is that some guy found some photos and wrote “God bless the USA” and people suddenly believe that this is real. I am look at the uniforms! The US doesn’t have anything like those in our inventory.

I think people should research the information they receive before they run around spouting nonsense. I remember talking to someone online and she was going on and on about how Bush protected America from many attempted terrorist attacks and that the US seized nuclear and biological weapons from Iraq. I didn’t put up a fight I just kind of listened. I asked what evidence she could produce but all her response was “Everyone knows it you don’t need proof”. This was ludicrous to me. I couldn’t believe that someone could just take something as outrageous as that at face value. I guess not everyone has my inquisitive nature but come on people it makes you look like idiots. I have more to say but I think I will save it for another post. Later.
