Offended by the title? No? Sweet, read on then.

I don’t believe any words are intrinsically bad. Just about all of our expletives weren’t always profane. Words like shit, bitch, faggot, and ass were all fine at one time but people have turned these into taboo words only to be used by the uncouth and boorish folk like myself.

Since alternatives for these words are generally deemed acceptable just about proves this point. Crap, fudge, and dang can be said on television but the words that are being substituted for are not permitted which is indicative that the meaning isn’t the problem but the word itself is.

I’d argue the point that people put words in the naughty pile because it makes them feel better about themselves. It’s like people have these moral tokens to be used as they wish. They can waste them on the word fuck or save them up and use a bunch on molestation or something.

Others seem to impose societal limits on things like language because it makes people focus in on arbitrary problems such as profanity. It’s sort of a cheap magician’s trick and everyone likes magic right?

Because I love quotes so much, I’ll leave with one.
